续拍版故事发生在“几年之后”，当年为了堵剧迷的嘴而故意拍摄的大结局将被抛弃。在那个大结局中剧迷喜爱的Michael被写死了，然而他在第五季中会活得好好的。
据称续拍版的故事地点设定在美国和也门，Michael「炮制了死亡的假象」，但是被关押在也门。当续拍版开始时，Sara已经接受Michael死亡的事实，带着自己和Michael的孩子嫁给了一个新丈夫。
但是种种线索表明Michael可能还活着，Sara决定再次与Lincoln、Fernando和C-Note合作，一起前往也门营救他。他们将策划该剧历史上规模最大的一次越狱行动。根据《娱乐周刊》的报道，发现了迈克尔还活着后的林肯自己也面临着生命威胁。从公布的故事版来看，新一季的第一集里上演了一场汽车追逐战。该剧的创作人保罗·舒尔林（Paul Scheuring）向《娱乐周刊》解释了为什么林肯也将危险缠身。
