President Xi Jinping on Friday called for efforts to fully build the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force into a world-class air force. Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), made the requirement while attending an event celebrating the 70th founding anniversary of the PLA Air Force.
人民空军成立于1949年11月11日。70年来，人民空军始终不忘初心、牢记使命，始终把捍卫空天安全作为不懈的追求。从朝鲜上空与强敌“空中拼刺刀”一鸣惊人，到击落敌高空侦察机开创世界防空作战先河；从入闽作战百日夺取制空权，到挥师东南联合作战解放沿海岛屿……人民空军敢于直面强敌、敢于一飞冲天、敢于创新超越，从国土防空到空天一体、攻防兼备，举旗铸魂永葆政治本色，实战实训砥砺胜战本领，改革重塑开启转型发展，谱写着建设强大的现代化人民空军的崭新篇章。
在新时代党的强军目标指引下，人民空军瞄准强敌、真打实备，潜心砺剑为国仗剑，“红剑”“蓝盾”“金头盔”等实战化训练品牌深入推进，空天战略打击、战略预警、空天防御和战略投送等能力建设加快推进。近年来，歼-20、运-20、歼-16、歼-10C和轰-6K、空警-500，以及红-9地空导弹等新型武器装备相继列装，战略空军标志性力量体系刀锋更锐、拳头更硬。
