2019年7月6日，在阿塞拜疆首都巴库（Baku, Azerbaijan）举行的第43届世界遗产大会（43rd session of the World Heritage Committee）上，浙江省杭州市余杭区“良渚古城遗址”（Liangzhu Archaeological Site）成功列入《世界遗产名录》（UNESCO World Heritage List），正式成为中国第55处世界遗产。至此，中国在世界遗产名录国家中排名第一（55项），意大利排名第二（54项）。
良渚古城（The Ancient City of Liangzhu）距今5300年—4300年，联合国教科文组织世界遗产委员会（UNESCO World Heritage Committee）认为，该遗址展现了一个存在于中国新石器时代晚期（the late Neolithic Period）的以稻作农业（paddy rice cultivation）为经济支撑、并存在社会分化和统一信仰体系的早期区域性国家形态。
