“打卡”一词来自职场，原指“在专门的机器上记录工作的时间（to record the time you arrive at work on a special machine）”，英文翻译可为“clock in”。但在网络传播后，衍生成为“对某种坚持事宜或态度的记录”，如“每日打卡”英文可以翻译为“daily attendance”。
而“网红地打卡”一般表示“在某个网红地点拍照，然后发朋友圈记录”，可以翻译为“take the perfect Wechat Moments snap at an internet-famous site”。
