grieve与mourn这两个动词均含“悲伤、伤心”之意。
grieve : 通常指因死亡、损失或失败等所造成的内心痛苦。可以是公开表达的,也可以是压抑于内心的。
- He is still grieving for/over his wife.
他仍沉浸在丧妻之痛中。 - It grieves me to see all this food going to waste.
看到这些食物都要被浪费了,我真是痛心。
mourn : 正式用词,含义与grieve很相近,但侧重因某人的亡故等某种原因而表现于外表的悲伤、哭泣。

维多利亚女王为艾伯特亲王的去世服丧40年。 - She was still mourning for her brother.
她还在悼念她的哥哥。 - They mourned the passing of an older, simpler way of life (= felt sad because it had stopped existing).
