gate与door这两个名词都有“门”的意思。
gate : 指校园、公园、工厂、城市或庭院等的大门，通常有墙无顶。

door : 指建筑物的大门或房间的门，一般有墙有顶，也指车辆等的门。

车门 - a sliding door
推拉门 - The door to his bedroom was locked.
他卧室的门上了锁。 - We could hear someone knocking at/on the door.
我们能听到有人在敲门。 - Could you open/close/shut the door, please?
请把门打开／关上好吗？ - She asked me to answer the door (= go and open it for someone).
她让我去开门。
