区别辨析curve、bend、bow、crook与twist

这些动词都含“弯、弯曲”之意。

curve : 指变成曲线或弧线状的动作或状态。

  • The road curves round to the left.
    道路转向左边。
  • The road curved around the bay.
    那条路沿海湾呈曲线伸展。
  • The ball curved through the air.
    球在空中沿曲线运动。
  • His lips curved in a smile.
    他咧嘴笑了。

bend : 普通用词,指把某物变成曲线或角形。用于人时,指头部或身躯弯下。

  • The road bends to the left after the traffic lights.
    过了第一个红绿灯后道路弯向左侧。
  • I bent down and picked up the coins lying on the road.
    我弯腰捡起路上的硬币。
  • Now, bend forward/over and touch your toes!
    现在,向前弯腰触摸脚趾。
  • Make sure you bend your knees when you're picking up heavy objects.
    提重物时一定要屈膝。
  • After her fall she complained that she couldn't bend her leg properly.

  • They bowed to the Queen.
    他们向女王鞠躬。
  • We bowed our heads in prayer.

  • He bowed down (= very low) before (= in front of) the king and begged for mercy.

crook : 指使(手指或手臂)弯曲,也指按照规则或模型弯曲某物。

  • She delicately crooked her little finger as she picked up her cup.
    她端茶杯时优雅地翘起小指。
  • He crooked his finger: 'Come forward,' he said.
    他勾勾手指说:“过来。”

twist : 指通过转动、拧或扭使某物成弯曲状。

  • The path twists and turns for over a mile.
    这条小路弯弯曲曲,长达1英里多。
  • She sat there nervously twisting the ring around on her finger.
    她紧张地坐在那儿,不停地转着手指上的戒指。
  • She twisted her head (round) so she could see what was happening.
    她扭过头来,想看看发生了什么事。
  • Twist the rope tightly round that post over there.
